Executive Director's Welcome
We are excited that you have taken the time to learn more about Joy Kids Learning Center. Finding a place to care for your child is one of the most critical decisions you will make as a parent and we are honored that you are considering Joy Kids Learning Center as an option for your child care needs. Our goal at Joy Kids Learning Center is to provide a safe, loving environment in which Christian child care services can be provided to children from the ages of two to five years old for the Edgewater community.
We offer an educational program that utilizes developmentally appropriate practices that enhance the social, emotional, physical and intellectual development of each child. The college educated, certified teachers strive to create a fun, safe, respectful and Christian environment. We encourage parents to be actively involved in their child's education through volunteering at the center and participating in special events.
While our website can provide you with an array of information there is nothing that compares to actually visiting one of our Center's. We have two locations to serve you in Edgewater: 1133 Carrs Wharf Road or 35 Mayo Road. Both centers offer the same programming, which includes foreign language, music, and physical education.

Chief Financial Officer's Welcome
Welcome to Joy Kids Learning Center! I am delighted that you have taken the time to discover and explore Joy Kids Learning Center through our website!
In 2012, I found myself substitute teaching at Mayo Elementary School in Anne Arundel County and decided that early childhood education had to be one of the most important parts to ones education. Eventually, I partnered with Melissa and opened Joy Kids Learning Center. While I have spent time in the classroom and love discovering the world through the eyes of children, I focus my energies on our social media, marketing, and finances. The good news is that I still get to help out in the classroom and I love it!
Discovery is such a critical part of what we do at Joy Kids Learning Center and it happens in every child’s activity, whether it is drawing a picture of what is happening outside or whether it is playing on the playground and discovering a praying mantis sitting on the edge of the fence - discovery happens in all that we do at Joy Kids. While we discover, we also do a lot of playing too! It has been said that the “brain’s favorite way of learning” is through play and we believe that to be very true at Joy Kids Learning Center. I encourage you to discover Joy Kids Learning Center not only through our website, but also in person! You can schedule a tour at one or both of our Centers in Edgewater. A hand on experience is the best way to discover us!
Just in case you wanted to know: B.A. English (94’); MBA (98’); 90 Hour Childcare Certificate (12’) and more than 12 years of financial and management experience at a top 3 financial institution.

Our Philosophy
Joy Kids Learning Center LLC is excited to offer an educational program for children of all abilities, languages and cultures. Our program utilizes developmentally appropriate practices that enhance the social, emotional, physical and intellectual development of each child. The college educated, certified teachers strive to create a fun, safe, respectful and Christian environment that follows the children's interests. The Joy Kids Learning Center believes that open communication between the teachers, students, administration and parents is critical to the overall success of the children, the family unit, and the Learning Center.
Parents are encouraged to be actively involved in their child's education through volunteering at the center and participating in special events.
Curriculum
Joy Kids Learning Center LLC utilizes The InvestiGator Club, Inquiry-Based Early Learning Curriculum. Purposeful inquiry, the heart of The InvestiGator Club "challenges young children to use their senses, to ask questions, and to find answers in an interactive, language-rich environment. Children are encouraged to think like a scientist, construct mathematical concepts, appreciate fine art and music and engage in meaninful conversations." Joy Kids Learning Center LLC also believes in the full development of children, which includes their spirituality. Therefore, daily activities are supplemented with Christian themes.
